Background
Kevin Costello, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for leading Umoja’s financial functions, as well as management of capital and financial resources. Drawing on his extensive experience in corporate finance, banking, and corporate strategy, Kevin specializes in financial solutions for high-growth businesses like Umoja.
Prior to Umoja, Kevin launched the East Region for Metropolitan Capital Bank in 2016 and served as the region’s Vice President. While there, he focused on both debt and equity solutions, serving as his clients’ single point of contact for Metropolitan Capital’s universal banking services.Kevin spent five years with Avison Young, a private-equity-backed, global commercial real estate services firm. As Director of Finance & Administration, he oversaw growth initiatives, financial reporting, and operations for Avison Young’s four New York Tri-State offices. During his tenure, Kevin helped to double the headcount, add four new service lines, and increase revenues and EBITDA exponentially. Earlier, as a Corporate Strategy Analyst for Avison Young, Kevin participated in more than 20 acquisitions, while managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis for more than 50 offices.
A native of the Chicago area, Kevin began his career with Metropolitan Capital commercial banking and investment banking teams after graduating with a B.S. in Finance from DePaul University. In college, Kevin ran hurdles on their Division-1 track and field team and was a part of the Finance Honors Program. Kevin also serves as a Board Member, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee and Co-Chair of the Gala Committee for the New England Science & Sailing Foundation.
